Vodacom Mozambique makes eSIM (virtual SIM card) available to its customers, with eSIM compatible devices.

What is eSIM?

The eSIM is a virtual card embedded in the device's internal hardware, so there is no need to insert or remove it. As it is a chip built into the device, the eSIM can replace the removable SIM card, making it possible to have several eSIMs stored on the device (the maximum number varies depending on the device model) and switch at any time to the line you want.

Advantages of eSIM:

The implementation of this technology adds a series of advantages from safety, convenience and sustainability.

• Multiple Numbers: eSIM makes it possible to activate multiple registrations (phone numbers) on the same mobile device, compared to the use of physical SIM cards, where the user is limited to just 1 or 2 numbers per device;
• Convenience: It is more resistant to physical damage, since the eSIM is embedded in the equipment, making it impossible to remove, which avoids problems of poor contact, wear and card breakage;
• Security: It is not possible to access user data without having access to the physical device and in case of theft or loss of the mobile device, it is easier to locate it using the eSIM;
• Environmentally Friendly: Eliminates plastic and metal waste used in traditional cards.

How to know if your device supports eSIM:

• In the calling application on your device, type *#06#;
• In the device information, look for EID xxxxxxxxxxxx;
• If you have the EID number, the device supports eSIM.

Individual Customers: 

• They can sign up for the eSIM at the nearest Vodacom store;
• You can call the Customer Line 84111.

Corporate customers:

• You can send an email to the address: companies@vm.co.mz;
• You can contact your manager.
